About Wild Andes Tours

A boutique birdwatching and photography tour company based in Lima, Peru.

Our Story

Peru's leading birdwatching & nature-photography operator

Wild Andes Tours creates unforgettable birdwatching and photography experiences for nature enthusiasts. We specialise in small-group birding tours, custom photography trips, and endemic-species expeditions across Peru's most spectacular ecosystems — from the coastal deserts near Lima to Andean cloud forests and the Amazon.

Whether it's a half-day trip from the capital or a multi-day expedition to Manu National Park — often called the most biodiverse place on earth — every itinerary is built around the birds and wildlife you most want to see and photograph.

The Founder

Alfredo Fernández

Biologist · Conservation Photojournalist · National Geographic Explorer since 2017

Alfredo founded Wild Andes Tours in early 2023, after more than a decade guiding and organising trips and expeditions across South America. He holds a double degree in Biology and Political Studies from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, where he also developed his craft as a nature photographer.

A National Geographic Society grantee, his first project with the Society — Lomas: Endangered Coastal Treasures— documented the fog-fed oases that bloom along Peru's desert coast. Today his work centres on ecotourism: growing Wild Andes Tours into a company where world-class birding supports the wild places it depends on — through local guides, local communities and conservation-minded travel. That blend of scientific curiosity, field experience and photographic eye shapes every Wild Andes Tours itinerary.
