The coastal lagoon at La Punta — Lima's premier shorebird site, where thousands of North American migrants stage in season. Andean Avocet, Black-necked Stilt, Hudsonian Godwit, Wilson's Phalarope, yellowlegs, plovers and peeps share the brackish water with Peruvian Thick-knee, Black Skimmer, gulls and terns, and the endemic Surf Cinclodes on the adjacent rocks.
