The high queñua (Polylepis) woodland of the upper Santa Eulalia — a rare, threatened habitat and the best place on the route for the endemic White-cheeked Cotinga, alongside Black Metaltail, Bronze-tailed Comet, Rusty-crowned Tit-Spinetail, Dark-winged Miner and Junín Canastero.
