The cloud forest at the Carpish tunnel and pass on the Huánuco–Tingo María road — dense, epiphyte-laden montane forest still holding a huge list. Mixed tanager and furnariid flocks work the roadside, with the endemic Pardusco, Coppery Metaltail, Rufous-browed Hemispingus, Green-and-white Hummingbird and Masked Fruiteater among a rich supporting cast of mountain-tanagers, hummingbirds and antpittas.
