The upper Satipo Road — the Concepción–Satipo highway as it drops off the Junín puna through elfin woodland and cloud forest, a legendary and little-birded east-slope descent. Its mixed flocks and Chusquea bamboo hold the endemic Fire-throated Metaltail, Eye-ringed Thistletail, Junín Tapaculo and Black-spectacled Brushfinch, with Creamy-crested Spinetail, Unstreaked Tit-Tyrant and Yellow-scarfed Tanager, and Black-breasted Hillstar and White-bellied Cinclodes on the puna above.
