The upper cloud forest of the ACP Abra Patricia and the Owlet Lodge, on the east slope of the northern Andes — the base for one of the most celebrated birding areas on Earth. The higher ridge holds mixed tanager flocks, mountain-tanagers and a wealth of hummingbirds, with the endemic Masked Fruiteater and Black-necked Woodpecker; the Long-whiskered Owlet and Royal Sunangel are found just below, in the Alto Nieva forest.
