The citadel itself and the higher trails of the sanctuary — Machu Picchu Mountain, Huayna Picchu and the upper cloud forest above about 2,100 m. A more endemic-rich list: Cuzco Brushfinch, White-tufted Sunbeam, Marcapata Spinetail and, in the Polylepis patches, White-browed Tit-Spinetail and Chestnut-breasted Mountain Finch, with Golden-headed Quetzal, mountain-tanagers and the endemic Bearded Mountaineer around the ruins.
